We are locally owned by Euro Coffee. We also live in the neighborhood, and we built Modern Eats so we too could have a local, near-by outpost serving good, consistent, healthy food.
We make lots of scratch food at Modern Eats. Many of our dishes sound simple, but insisting on clean ingredients, free from preservatives and added chemicals means carefully sourcing every item we serve. We don’t want to eat high fructose corn syrup - and neither should you! - so there is no HFCS in any of our ingredients. Even items like catsup and grape jam are special orders here, since HFCS is in almost everything! Plus, we’ve got Jones Sodas on tap, made with real cane sugar.
Our pancakes are simply delicious, made from scratch with eggs and fresh buttermilk and real pure maple syrup. Los Angeles Magazine says, “Must Try Before You Die!”
We make our brioche hamburger buns: high protein flour, buttermilk, eggs, yeast and a little salt.
Try our homemade pear & rhubarb preserves on sourdough toast!
Our French Fries are also made from fresh potatoes, blanched and then fried in fresh oil.
Sourcing all our breads was difficult. Even the bread companies with “foodie-sounding” natural names were full of dough conditioners, mold retarders and preservatives. We finally found a family bakery which uses no dough conditioners or preservatives, no HFCS and their breads are amazing! Their sourdough is 100% natural and has only 4 ingredients! Our La Brea Torta Rolls are also simply delicious!
